Just a quick post really to say what a surprise it was for me today when i went to pick my daughter up from Play Group and i was ushered to a newly made felt board. It is an update board really to let parents know what ‘key skills’ they are teaching the children that week.
This week it was something called ‘Jolly Phonics’ and i’m guessing it has something to do with how to pronounce the letters of the alphabet in a more child friendly, fun way. I remember how it was taught when i was at school. Annie Apple, Kicking King, Jumping Jack etc.
Anyhow if you cannot read the surprisingly shiny picture under the heading Special Moments This Week, it says ‘Autumn can recite most of the alphabet in upper case form.’ I am hoping she takes after me in the English department, but not so much in the maths department. I am utterly rubbish with numbers! Thank god for the calculator app on the iPhone, that is all i can say! But anyhow, it was a proud moment for Autumn to be the first child recognised on this board, a real scrap book of memories moment.
