Marcus Sedgewick to release Adult Novel?

Marcus_SedgwickI’ve been a fan of YA and gothic author, Marcus Sedgwick for some time now. I first came across his work when i bought his novel Witch Hill for 10p at a charity book stall. This later introduced me to The Book of Dead Days and his other YA titles.

Sedgwick is quite unique in the YA genre, as a lot of his work, although commercial, is authentically gothic, usually with huge plot twists and multiple story-arcs. I am eagerly awaiting his new YA novel She is not Invisible which is due for release in october 2013. Although, as of yet, there is no cover release. But if his previous titles are to go by, then this will surely be a winner as he has been shortlisted for over thirty awards, including five Carnegie Medals.

Imagine my surprise, when yesterday i read an interesting article that an adult novel may be in the works. The article, first published on the Bookseller website, stated that his adult novel has been picked up by Hodder & Stoughton imprint, Mulholland Books.

The book, A Love Like Blood, scheduled for release in March 2014, apparently  is set in post-war Paris and follows a young medic called Charles Jackson, who witnesses something so severe and chilling, that it will change his life forever. Editor of Mullholland Books, Ruth Tross has said that A Love Like Blood is:

a dark literary thriller about obsessions, revenge, love and hate, and our psychological relationship to blood.

Obviously this info isn’t much to go on, but i will be very keen to learn more. It must be extremely hard to switch from YA books to Adult; a switch i myself find frustratingly difficult. It’ll be interesting to see how this one pans out.
