I’ve been putting off writing this post. You could probably say that I’ve been sticking my head firmly in the sand, instead of admitting that I may have been optimistic with the April release date for my upcoming NA novel ‘Here Lies Love’. I was actually hoping that I was ahead of where I thought I was, that maybe a spur would kick me into finishing it and having it released on time.
Sadly, I haven’t been able to meet the deadline. I am well over half way. Even two thirds through in fact. But you may remember me talking about my writing break because of my lost faith. If I hadn’t taken that break in Cumbria, then maybe, just maybe, I would have finished it by now and working my way through the edits. But saying that, if I hadn’t taken the break, then I’m positive that I would have gone mad and ran off into the woods in an insane stupor.
I am progressing though, which is a good thing. I haven’t given up, just fallen behind somewhat. I’m looking forward to running competitions and having you guys actually reading the book in front of you. I am now working towards a late May/early June release.
Speaking of competitions, you may also remember that I was running a naming competition for my readers to actually name one of the characters within Here Lies Love. Well, I can know officially announce that the character will be called Ryan, which was nominated by Sharon Atkinson. Congratulations to you, who will be receiving a signed paperback copy upon release.
I have taken this picture from a clothes website actually, but he instantly reminded me of Ryan. Here is an extract of when Abbey first comes across Ryan in the book.
“Comp’s fair hair looked matted in the blue haze and his gilet was dusty, like he had been rolling around in sand. His eyes were also slightly too close together and he looked a little odd against Tristan’s innocent good looks.” – Here Lies Love
I do hope you stick with me as gear up to finish the book. In the meantime, I’d be really honoured if you could add it to your Goodreads list. This can be really helpful when seeing who is actually interested in reading the book. Not sure what it is about? Well, why didn’t you say so?
Would death be less painful than life?
When she is sold by her father, Abbey discovers that nightmares can occur when you’re awake. Trapped inside a wooden cage, Abbey is forced to listen to the horrors and atrocities above; time ticking down until it is her turn. But Abbey isn’t prepared to become a victim; she will escape.
Although, what Abbey isn’t prepared for, is how harsh and unfair the world can be. With the sun turning its back on humanity long ago, life gives no opportunity. The only thing Abbey can do is learn to survive. To exist. And that means stealing any opportunity that comes her way. Haunted by the unpleasant memories bestowed upon her only nurtures Abbey’s paranoia, until she realises that to truly live in the world, she must confront the person who was responsible for her misfortune – her father.
Here Lies Love is a New Adult tale of actuality, of facing up to the fact that love comes in many guises. Can Abbey find the one glimmer of hope or will she be overcome with the darkness of revenge?
